Aaron Edgar 'Sonny' Jones was born on July 12, 1936 in Colorado City, Texas to the parentage of Milford Jones and Dollie Gossett Jones. He was the youngest of 3 children. Both Father, Mother and his oldest sister, Mildred Jones Pierce have preceded him in death. He attended Colorado City schools from elementary through 10th grade. He completed his public-school years at Lincoln High in Dallas with the graduating class of 1955. He accepted Christ at an early age, while attending Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Colorado City. He went to Wiley College on a basketball scholarship.
Aaron met and married Earnestine Clarke on August 1, 1957 in Miami, FL. There were no children born to this union.
Aaron began his professional career as a Realtor. In 1968, he changed his career and started working for American Airlines at Love Field Airport, then later moved to DFW International Airport. Aaron was a dedicated employee, starting as a baggage handler eventually working up to a Cargo Chief. His hard work ethic continued for 34 years until he retired in 2002.
He leaves to mourn his death, his sister Hattie Jones Jenkins, his nephews and their wives; Joe Michael Pierce (Gail), Greg Pierce, Freddie Bertram Jenkins (Lorraine), Byron Jenkins, Bruce Jenkins (Sharolyn), Barry Jenkins (Bridgette) and a host of family and friends.
