IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Dixon
October 6, 1927 – June 30, 2023
A GLIMPSE AT THE LIFE OF
Mr. Albert James Dixon (AJ) was born October 6,
1927, in Big Rock, Texas to the union of the late
Herman Dixon and Viola Bowman. He was one of
eight children born to this union. He received his
formal education in the Big Rock, Texas School
System.
AJ married Ms. Myrtle Dee Brown on September
12, 1975, and from their union five beautiful
children were born.
AJ accepted Christ at an early age. He was a faithful
member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church
where he also served in the Usher Ministry. He
regularly attended the 7am service and
affectionately adopted the Saturday Night Live
service as his favorite time to worship. This gave
him extra time to do one of his favorite hobbies,
which is to cook Sunday Dinner for his family. He
was an avid bible reader who prayed daily.
During the 2022 Church Anniversary Ceremony he
was officially recognized as the most senior member
of St. John Church Unleashed.
AJ also loved to hunt and spend time back home in
East Texas visiting old friends and taking care of
the family livestock and farmland.
AJ was an entrepreneur early in life having owned
multiple full-service gas stations in Grand Prairie,
Texas. During that same time span he worked in the
Office Supply Department of Vought Aircraft
Company (aka LTV). He dedicated 32 years of
service from 1961 until 1993 when he was honored
at a formal retirement ceremony.
This Great Father and Loving Grandfather
transitioned to his eternal heavenly home on June
30, 2023, while surrounded by members of his
family. He will be reunited in Heaven with his
mother and father Herman and Viola Dixon, sisters
Geneva Dixon, Gertha Mae Goodman, Hosie Lee
Dixon, Viola Dixon, Opel Jean Mumphrey, brother
Sammy Lee Dixon, son Clifford Dixon and
