Mrs. Alma Pearl Houser Dixson-Houser, daughter of the late Eunice Dixson and Eula Mae Dimerson Nelson was born November 27, 1937, in Houston, Texas. She attended the public schools of Marlin, Texas and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Rocky Hill AME Church.
Upon graduation she moved to Herne, Texas where she met and married Elijah McGrew Sr. and moved to California where she lived for a period and then moved back to Hearn, Texas and 3 children were born; Alvin Dixson, Elijah McGrew, and Rosalind Dixson. She later met and married the late Nathaniel Redmon Jr. where 6 children were born; Roy, Sherley, Frederick, Rickey, Charlotte and Debbie Redmon.
She later moved to Dallas, Texas and united with Mt. Sanai Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. T.C. Bonner where she served as President of the Senior and Junior Usher Boards, taught Sunday School, BTU and was an active member of the choir. She worked and retired from Sears Roebuck & Company and TJ Maxx.
She later met and married Elder Samuel Houser and moved to Plano, Texas. Keeping in line with her spiritual upbringing, Alma united with Holy Temple COGIC where she served in many capacities to help and serve. She served as YPWW President, Pastor's Aid President, Children Ministry and served on the Mothers Board. She became a licensed Evangelist and was an intricate part of the COGIC Conventions. She later joined the Rhema Life Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Thomas, where she was a faithful member of the SALT Ministry until her health failed her.
Alma cherished the friends and friendships that she formed…. Her friends until her death were her sister, Ora Griffin, who she spoke with every day, Missionary Martha Edwards and Mrs. Yvonne Shannon
As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Because her love for her family was overwhelming, she will be greatly missed. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
She quietly departed this life on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at her home. She is preceded in death by her parents Eunice Dixson Sr. and Eula Nelson; two sons: Roy Redmon and Elijah McGrew; two brothers: Charles Dixson and Eunice Dixson, Jr.; and one niece Mishon Griffin.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband of 41 years, Elder Samuel Houser; her children: Alvin Dixson (Bettye) of Houston, TX; Rosalind Dixson (Walter) of Dallas, TX; Sherley Redom (Warren) of McKinney, TX; Frederick Redmon (Tammie) of Plano, TX; Rickey Redmon (Vivian) of Plano, TX; Charlotte Price of Allen, TX; and Debbie Humphrey (James) of Anna, TX; Two brothers: Clifton Hammond (Pauline) of The Colony, Tx; Chris Nelson of Terrell, TX; and one sister Ora Faye Griffin of Ft. Worth, TX. Her Extended children: Rickey House, Roxanne Boyd (Clarence), Myra Houser (James) all of McKinney, TX; James Houser, Sandra Houser and Brent Houser all of Ft. Worth, TX; Julia Faye Williams (Stanley) of Cedar Hill, TX; Cassie Montgomery (Jonathan) of Hearn, TX; Pat Bone (Johnny) of Allen, TX; Tiesha Bowen of Hearne, TX; 35 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; 2 God children and a host of nieces , nephews and other relatives and friends.
