Artie Vereece McKinzie was the fifth child of nine, born July 8th, 1945 to the parentage of the late R.T. McKinzie and Daisy Shaw McKinzie in Anderson County, TX.
Artie received Christ at an early age at Providence Baptist Church. She attended school at Massey Lake High School in Tennessee Colony, TX. The family moved to Plano in 1960. She joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor L.H. Harper. Artie graduated from Plano Colored High School.
Artie was employed with Texas Instrument for over 30 years where she retired in
2000.
Artie entered into Holy matrimony with Melvin Davis Powell on November 23, 1977. Artie's past time was reading, playing bingo, going to the casino and listening to country music.
