Obituary

"You make known to me the path of life, you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand."  -  Psalm 16:11

On February 14, 1941 in Houston, TX. Willie Williams and Amelia (Smith) Williams welcomed their second blessing of a baby girl, which they affectionately named Bernice. True to the meaning of Valentine's Day, Bernice manifested "Love and Happiness" before a song was written with that title.

She attended Doty High School and loved being a part of the Doty Reunion Planning Committee where she served as the committee's secretary. Bernice's famous chili was the selling point for the Doty Dogs Fundraiser for student scholarships. Bernice and her classmates were faithful in providing scholarships for students in the community.

Bernice was a faithful member and Tither of The McKinney First Baptist Church.

After being a stay-at-home Mom for 14 years, Bernice became employed with Fisher Controls where she worked until retirement after 27 years of dedicated service.

Bernice's ability to play the piano, the guitar, and to sing and dance also gave her children their love for music and performing. She stressed education and C's were not allowed. On the weekends, her children loved performing for Granddaddy, Big Momma, and Momma. If the song was slow and dragging, she would say "Cut".

If you were ever a performer for Bernice in song or dance, just know you were loved.

She also enjoyed fishing and arts and crafts.

Bernice was so loved by family and friends that she was given many names: Snuff, Momma, G Mom, Granny, Momma Niece, Momma Bernice, ThuTha (Sister), Aunt Bernice; Bern; and Aunt B.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Refuge Smith, Calvin Smith, and Matilda Williams, father Willie Williams and mother Amelia Williams Lively.

Brothers: Berry Williams and Billy Williams, daughter Gwendolyn Hall, grandson Cedric Redwine, Sr. and grand-daughters Joyeria Maxwell and Kesha Howell.

Bernice is survived by her children: Q'Juan Dunlap Gray, Everett Dunlap, Audrey Long, (Ira) Amelia Wheeler (Don), Bettina Brown Sims, Kimberley Howell (Greg), and Brian Maxwell. Her sister Willie Mae Singleton and brother, Jerry Lee Henry (Sharon), her grand and great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and a special daughter Vanessa Duckett.
