IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty J.
Henderson
January 20, 1933 – December 4, 2025
Betty Jean Henderson was born on January 20, 1933, in Plano, Texas, to the loving and proud parents Willie Mae Morgan and James L. Thomas. She was the 10th of 11 siblings.
Betty attended Plano Independent School District until she married the late Chester Conway Taylor. She then went on to welcome four beautiful children into this world: Benjamin Taylor, Derrice Harris, Quinta Taylor, and the late Richard Taylor. Later in life, after Chester's passing, she remarried the late Earl Henderson.
Betty was a hardworking and dedicated individual. She began her working journey as a housekeeper for the Perkins family in her early years and later began working for BeBe Donley. She initially worked with Ms. Donley at her flower shop, and after Ms. Donley retired, Betty—along with three other employees—was gifted the flower shop. Toward the end of Ms. Donley's life, Betty also served as her caregiver, lovingly supporting her until her passing. She was also a proud Eastern Star, sharing her strong religious beliefs and her commitment to community service.
Betty was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she served the Lord faithfully throughout her entire life. She was a weekly participant in the Sister to Sister Bible Study, Midweek Service, and devoted herself to serving God in any capacity she could. She was a faithful servant of God and instilled a deep and unwavering faith in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was not only a mother to her own children but became a motherly figure to many others she lovingly took in over the years. Her love knew no boundaries.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Willie Mae Morgan; her father, James L. Thomas; her first and second husbands, Chester Conway Taylor and Earl Henderson; her young son, Richard Taylor; and nine of her ten siblings.
Betty leaves behind her three children, Derrice Harris, Benjamin Taylor, and Quinta Taylor; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and a beautiful multitude of adopted family she loved dearly over the years.
