IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Jean
Johnson
April 14, 1958 – March 31, 2019
Betty Jean Johnson was born in Spartanburg, SC on April 14, 1958, to the parentage of Ida Taylor and Jesse Smith, Sr.
Our mother confessed her belief in the Lord at an early age in life and rededicated herself fully when she joined Hill Chapel CME Church of Plano, TX.
Betty was a hard-working person with a heart of gold. She always saw the good in people and wanted to lend a helping hand. Betty worked in school transportation for nearly 40 years and working with kids was truly one of her greatest passions. She was always so full of energy and lit up the room with her upbeat personality. To know Betty is to love her. She was never one to hold her opinions back and was always there when you needed her. She was strong-willed, but she had to be growing up in the boogie down Bronx. Betty sacrificed a lot for the happiness of her loved ones, and she will always be remembered as a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother "Granny". Her infectious laugh and corky comments will sure to be a lasting memory to all.
Betty was preceded in death by her daughter Roschelle Johnson, husband Michael Johnson, Sr., father Jesse Smith, Sr., brothers James Taylor, Michael "Choppa" Taylor, Leroy Taylor, Jr., Anthony Taylor, Sr., and sister Desiree Abdullah.
Betty is survived by her daughters Monique Johnson of Wylie, TX, and Jennifer Johnson of Grand Prairie, TX, and son Michael Johnson, Jr. (Shareia) of Murphy, TX. Also left to cherish her memories are her four granddaughters: Arianna, Shamya, Keona, Ashlyn, and her two grandsons: Mason, and Khalil. Her mother Ida Taylor; brothers: Gerald Taylor, Victor Taylor, Ellison "E.D." Taylor; half-sister Freda Smith, half-brother Kenny Smith. Godchildren: Ben Radford, Joseph, Radford, Brandon "BJ" Radford, and Kimberly Johnson. A host of nieces and nephews, other relative's, and friends.
