Obituary

Brenda Louise Jones was born April 2, 1965, to the late Bevelyn Jones. In Brenda's early years, she lived in her grandparents' house with her mother, her sisters, aunts, and uncles. She was raised by her mother and the only father she knew, Phil Jones, who she loved dearly.

Brenda received her education through the Chicago Public School System. She began working at a young age in Chicago at Church's Chicken, which isn't surprising, given that she has always loved chicken.

Brenda met the love of her life, Lonnie Johnson Jr., and together they brought 3 children into this world Growing up close to Nazalee, Brenda loved her grandmother more than anyone could imagine. Through her grandmother, she inherited and embraced the skills of nurturing, caring, and above all, love, which she spread to all who crossed her path and continues with all those she has touched. She later found joy in caring for those who could not care for themselves as a CNA at the Arlington Villa and Oakwood nursing homes for over 20 years.

Brenda loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself. Honestly, Brenda loved all of her family: siblings, nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, and uncles. She also loved her friends as if they were family. Brenda epitomized "love" in her life. If you knew Brenda, you couldn't help but love her. Brenda was love; she lived, loved, and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Truly to know Brenda was to love her. She was taught about Jesus early in life as her grandparents ensured this was so. It was obvious how Brenda loved all that it was a reflection of God. Brenda never wavered from her love of God. She loved the Lord to the very end and beyond. There are no words to express the love Brenda Louise Jones bestowed upon the lives of all her children and her grandchildren. Brenda was a wonderful mother to many. Her spirit truly exemplified love, and that is exactly what she spread wherever she went.

Brenda Louise Jones was preceded in her death by her maternal grandparents, Willie Arthur Anderson and Nazalee Anderson, mother, Bevelyn Ann Jones, father, Phil Jones, and her very special granddaughter, Naveah Johnson.

Brenda's passing leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and a community grieving her loss which includes three sons, her oldest son, Anton Jones (Amanda), and two younger sons, Lonnie Johnson 3rd, and James Johnson (Shanita), her youngest and only daughter, Breanna Johnson, 8 grandchildren, Davion Jones, Jayden Johnson, Kayden Johnson, Ayden Johnson, Havana Johnson, Lonnie Johnson 4th, and Lazarus Johnson, two sisters, Terry Harding and Veronica Bell, two brothers, Daren and Reginald Bell, 6 nieces, 5 nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Her very special aunts and uncles: Uncle Allen and Aunt Angie, and her Uncle Phillip and Aunt Bess, who never ever left her wanting, as well as a host of relatives, her close and dear friends who are too many to name.
