Obituary

Brenda Joyce Smith was born September 17, 1955 to Everett and Eleanor Mosley in Fort Benning, Georgia's
military hospital. After her parents military duty ended they returned back to Los Angeles, California. Brenda
accepted Christ at an early age and was active in Sunday School and the Choir. She graduated from George
Washington High School and attended Cal State North Ridge University. In 1979, she married Lige O'Neal
Giddens II. To this union two sons were born, Lige O'Neal III and Darren Troy Giddens.
Brenda was employed by the United States Postal Service and Jennings INC. The family moved from
California to Plano, Texas where she was employed with Care Mart Pahma, the Collin County Sheriff's
Department and Experian Credit Bureau. The family joined the Greater New Birth Baptist Church Plano,
Texas under the leadership of Pastor Charles Ray Terry Sr. Brenda served as a Deaconess, an active Choir
Member, CRT Youth Choir Director and as a member of Women's Mission.
In 2004, Brenda married Timothy Smith and they moved to Lavon, Texas. After moving, they united with
Abundant Life Christian Center Church under the leadership of Pastor Henry and Arlena Crane in
Richardson, Texas. Brenda became a Praise and Worship Leader and was very active in Sunday School.
Brenda was loving, quiet and sincere in all her endeavors.
She leaves the cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband Timothy Smith, devoted mother Eleanor
Smith, God mother, Eurine "Big Mama" Herod; four sons Lige O'Neal Giddens III (Vickey), Darren Troy
Giddens, Timothy "Lil' Tim" Smith, Timothy "T.J." Roberson (Andrea); two daughters Alicia Cross (Patrick)
and Rene Star; a loving and devoted sister, Beverly Shannon (Clinton); thirteen grandchildren; three aunts,
Linda Watts, Ruby Brenham, and Minnie Holmes; two sister-in-laws Gwen "GiGi" Guy and Diane Giddens;
three brother-in-laws Troy Giddens, James Roberts (Laverne) and Philip Roberts (Carolyn); a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Honorary Sisters: De'Angela Hatcher (Andre), Rolanda Tarver (Jeff), Deborah Johnson, Peaches and Suzette.
She will be lovingly and greatly missed by all that knew her.
