Canary Banks Williams Smith (Nay) was born
in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 6,1963 to the late Emerson and Maggie B. Banks. She was the youngest of seven
children.
Canary confessed Christ at an early age and united with Rising
Star B.C. in Homer, Louisiana. Shortly after, she moved to Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Cody High School in 1981.
She then moved back to Homer, Louisiana where she united
with her late husband, Robert Earl (Bip) Williams; they relocated to Houston, Texas. She was a faithful and devoted wife
until his death on March 29, 1994.
While living in Houston, Texas she became a member of New
Macedonia B.C. and served in the choir. She later moved to
Dallas, Texas with her two sons. She united with the True
Vine Missionary Baptist Church. She served in the choir and
attended Mission when her health allowed her.
On October 16, 2022, at 12:15 pm, Canary traded her old life
for a new life bidding her loved ones and this old world a farewell.
Proceeding her in death are her mother and father. She leaves
to cherish her memory, her husband Charles Smith, two boys
Jamar (Tierra), Jerried (Nay Nay), and one beautiful love of her
life granddaughter, Jamaria. Four sisters and two brothers,
Dorothy (Charles) of Dallas, Tx, Emerson (Audrie) of Detroit,
MI, Verna (Ray) of Dallas, Tx, Robert (Gilberte) of Houston,
Tx, Claretha (Zeke) of Houston, Tx, Valdalyn(Lester) of Houston, Tx. One special aunt, "Aunt Mary" of Houston, Tx. And a
host of nieces, nephews, and cousins
