Catherine Kennedy King was born to Theodore and
Beatrice Kennedy on January 31, 1933 in Shreveport,
Louisiana where she was raised. She was the third of
six children.

At a young age, Catherine attended Russell Road Church of Christ.
She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. After
graduating, she matriculated to Southwestern Christian College in
Terrell, Texas were she majored in Home Economics. Upon
graduating, she spread her wings and moved to Los Angeles,
California. While visiting home, she met a man who would
become the love of her life, Raymond King. They married on
February 12, 1960, and were happily married until his passing in
April of 1982.

Catherine moved to Garland, Texas in 1983 after the passing of her
husband to be closer to her Mother and other family members.
After moving to Garland, Catherine started attending Marsalis
Avenue Church of Christ and later joined the Eastside Church of
Christ located in Garland.

Catherine was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed
sewing for her daughters, being actively involved with the PTA
acting as a room mother, and cooking for her family. In recent
years, her favorite past times were reading fiction, working crossword puzzles, and attending sewing and craft conventions, making
clothing for her great nieces, buying sewing machines and taking
advanced sewing classes with friends she met at the Garland Senior
Citizen Center.

Catherine was preceded in death by both parents, Theodore and
Beatrice Kennedy; husband, Raymond King; brothers, Theodore,
Jr. and Raymond Kennedy; sisters, Gloria Beverly, Bettie Blake
and Delores Hartin.

Catherine leaves the following behind to mourn her passing:
daughters, Katrina Raye King of ,Spotsylvania, VA and Katauna
Joyce King of Rowlett, TX; sisters in law, Joyce King of Laurel,
MD and Eugenia Bickerstaff (Bernie) of Washington, D.C.; brother
in law, Ronald Carter (Marie) of Los Angeles, CA; her best friend,
Dorothy Crosby of Dallas, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, extended family and friends.
