Obituary

Cathy was born September 4, 1956, to Mrs. Katherine Lakes-Scott.

Cathy received her formal education in the Dallas Independent School District. She graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in May of 1975.

Cathy absolutely loved God and was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost. She was a dedicated and proud member of Evangelist Temple Church of God in Christ in Dallas, Texas, under the leadership of the late Superintendent Travis Cannon and now present Superintendent Freddie Sheppard. There she served as a faithful choir member. She loved singing with the Evangelist Temple Church Choir, and she also sung with the Cannon Memorial Choir.

Cathy had style and loved fashion. She loved to get her hair done, put on her clothes and wear her favorite perfume.

Cathy was a kindhearted, loving and dedicated Mother who loved her daughter and grandchildren with her whole heart; they were her pride and joy. She was also a wonderful sister and great friend who was strong, caring, and giving; and touched the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Cathy will forever be loved, missed and never forgotten by many.

Cathy was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Katherine Lakes-Scott, and two brothers, Eddie Scott and Jerry Dodson.

Cathy leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: one loving daughter, Dee (Troy); three grandchildren, Jaszmyn Shanks, Traci Williams and Troy Williams, Jr.; three great grandchildren, Serenity Crawford, Èmani Crawford and Za'ire Crawford; five brothers, Frank Scott, Jr. (Delores) of Gardenia, CA, James Scott (Menchie) of Temecula, CA, Curtis Williams, Tommy Scott both of Dallas, TX, and Curtis Perry (Tressie); three sisters, Shirley Lewis, Sandra Perry-Jackson and Gwen Scott all of Dallas, TX; one aunt who is the Matriarch of the family, Joan Faye Kelsey of Alexandria, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

As we say our final goodbyes to Cathy, let us remember the love and joy she brought into our lives. We are eternally grateful for the time we shared together, and her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
