Charles James Hooks ("Chuck") was born in De Kalb, Texas, April 26, 1949, to Eddie James and Jerlene Hooks. The fourth of nine children; His parents, four sisters (Ruby, Shirleye, Linda, Diane), and one brother (Joe) preceded him in death.

Chuck was raised in Lubbock, Texas, and graduated from Estacado High School. He attended Mclennan Community College and Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas.

Chuck was "an Army Guy". He was a proud Veteran having actively served in the United States Army for 3 years and the US Army Reserve for 3 years. He was Honorably discharged on April 12, 1985.

Chuck was, also, a family guy. When there was a family event, he showed up. He loved and looked after his entire family, but he decidedly looked after the women in his life. Six of his siblings are sisters.

He loved and believed in the Lord and His church. He was a member of Greenville Avenue Church of Christ ("GACC") and was an active participant in the services and activities at the church. He enjoyed and was actively involved in the Singles Ministry. He looked forward to the Annual GACC Picnic and a rousing game of dominoes with Sister Simmons and others.

Chuck was a kind, gentle, spirit who led a simple life. But, also took pleasure in a friendly debate, banter and "trash talking". He liked his coffee and honey bun, or donut, in the morning. He liked to fish, loved his Dr. Pepper, loved his Mustang, and he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He leaves to mourn and miss his great smile, two sisters, Eddie Jewel Hooks and Carolyn Hooks Walker (Daniel), and one brother, Donald Ray Hooks (Anita). His fourteen nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends will sorely miss him, as well.
