IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christene
Pondexter
July 7, 1944 – January 8, 2025
With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on January 8th, 2025, at the age of 80.
Christene Pondexter was born on July 7th, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to John L. Howard and Bobbie L. Baker. She grew up in Mt. Pleasant, TX.
She met James Pondexter in 1975 and shortly after, wed in 1977. Christene retired from the Wylie Independent School District after 25 years of service. Her hobbies included fishing, bingo and bragging on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Christene was a deeply spiritual lady whose life was guided by a strong personal faith. She believed in the power and presence of
the Lord, simple acts of kindness and the importance of family. With a heart full of love and a spirit that never wavered, she was the cornerstone of her family, a beacon of hope and comfort, and a source of endless wisdom. She would always put the needs of her family first. She was a constant presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren; always available to offer a listening ear and a reassuring smile. She would go over and beyond for her family and loved ones.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Bobbie; her husband James Pondexter; son Bernard; brother Jack; sister Bobbie; and her nephew Charles.
Christene leaves to cherish her memories, her loving children, Billy, Jr., Linda Latrice (Lawrence), Anthony Charles (Tracey), Kevin Dewayne, and Brandon Bernard (Evelyn); her grandchildren, Rashaunda, Tyson, Tyler, Lhr'Ric, Harmonei, Devin, Jaclyn, Damian, and Bralyn; her great-grandchildren, Jaida, Londyn, Kaliah, McKinli and Harlee.
She also leaves behind her loving brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her.
As we say our goodbyes, we do so with a heart full of love and gratitude for the wonderful woman who was our mother, our guide, and our closest friend. Her legacy of love, compassion, faith and encouragement lives on in all of us, and we will carry it with us as we journey through life without her.
