On February 23, 1957, in Pontiac, Michigan, Jessie and Lucy Mae Simpson joyfully welcomed the birth of their fourth child, Cleveland Simpson II. He was their second son and the fourth of eight children.

At an early age, Cleveland accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized. He attended the Pontiac Public School System, where he completed his education. Following in his father's footsteps, he began his career at General Motors, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. After retiring, he relocated to Texas, where he enjoyed the next chapter of his life.

If one phrase could describe Cleveland, it would be, "He never met a stranger only a friend he had not yet met." Blessed with a warm heart, an engaging personality, and an unforgettable sense of humor, Cleveland had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. His gift of conversation could draw anyone into his world, and his laughter was contagious. He embraced life on his own terms, living by the motto, "Come what may." He had a deep appreciation for music, especially jazz. Although he knew the words to countless songs, he would jokingly admit that he "couldn't sing a lick”. More than anything, Cleveland treasured the relationships he built throughout his life, creating lasting bonds through the love he freely gave and received.

In the early morning hours of June 30, 2026, Cleveland peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to be with the Lord, knowing he was loved by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Simpson Sr. and Lucy Mae Simpson; two sisters, Debra Elaine Simpson; Joanne Marie Simpson and his brother Michael Simpson.

Cleveland leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Ronda Simpson; one child, Clenesha ‘Cle’ Simpson (Gwendolyn Goldsmith-Williams), one sister Brenda L. Simpson; three brothers; Jesse (Debora) Simpson Jr., Arnold Simpson and Ronald Simpson, Former wife, Colleen Carpenter and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his life and legacy.
