Clifford Earl
Ransom, Jr.
August 13, 1962 – January 6, 2022
In DeWitt, Arkansas, on August 13, 1962, Clifford Ransom, Sr., and Myrtle Butler Ransom welcomed their only son, Clifford Earl Ransom, Jr., who was affectionately called "Brother" by his sisters, family, and the community, alike.
Clifford attended Nichols Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church as a youth where he was encouraged by his mother to participate in youth activities. He later in life confessed a belief in Jesus Christ.
Clifford graduated from DeWitt High School, Class of 1980. While in High School, he excelled in sports obtaining All-Region, All-District, and All-State, in basketball, football, and track. During his high school career, he received much recognition for his athletic accomplishments. Clifford was named by his class as Best Sportsmanship and Class Favorite.
His outstanding athletic stats in High School earned him a football scholarship to Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. He continued to excel in football while working towards a degree in Physical Education. As a Wonder Boy, Clifford was elected as a member of the 1983 All-Conference Team (AIC). In his senior year, he received the "Marvin "Shorty" Salmon" Award. This award is given in recognition of the Arkansas Tech senior football player who best personifies the outstanding traits of the late Marvin "Shorty" Salmon, former all-around athlete and head football coach at Arkansas Tech.
Clifford served his country in the Branch of the United States Army from 1989-1992. While serving in Alaska, he fell in love with his surroundings and made his home there.
He was licensed and served as a foster parent for 11 years.
He was employed at Laidlaw Transit and later First Student in Fairbanks, Alaska until his health declined. He received numerous accolades, and awards for his years of service, perfect attendance, and job performance from both companies where he worked for a total of 25 plus years.
Clifford was a friend to all that knew him and to those he met.
His loving and supportive mother, Myrtle B. Ransom, his father, Clifford Ransom, Sr. and sister, Shirley Lambert, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters, Polder Ransom of Arlington, TX ~ Sandra (Reuben) Eldridge of Sherwood, AR ~ Henrietta Martin of Desoto, TX ~ and Michelle (Bradford) Woods of Arlington, TX; six nieces, Karen (James) Williams, Flomenthia Hayes, DeShonna (Anthony) Barnes, Monique Harris, Angela (Michael) Lang, and Shenika Ransom, five nephews, William Lambert, Reushon (Joyvin) Eldridge, Terence Woods, John Martin, and Demetrius Ransom; several great-nieces and nephews; one aunt, Alice Butler of Stuttgart, AR, his companion Nadine Meadows of Fairbanks AK, long time friends Traci Morgan of Fayetteville AR, and Andrea Quintyne of Fairbanks, AK, a host of other family members, and friends.
