Obituary

HIS BEGINNING:
On Wednesday October 23, 1946, in Marshall, Texas, Clyde Lewis, Jr. was born to Elease
Henderson and Clyde Lewis, Sr. Clyde Jr. was raised by step-father Wallace Johnson.

HIS EARLY CHILDHOOD:
Clyde "Junior Boy" Lewis, Jr. of which he was later called was the oldest of three children. He
accepted Christ at an early age and joined Hamilton Park First Baptist Church under the
leadership of Pastor Jessie L. Foster.

HIS FORMAL EDUCATION:
Clyde received his formal education at St. Peter's Catholic School where he later transitioned
to Hamilton Park Elementary and High School. He went on to attend Prairie View A&M
University in Prairie View, Texas. While attending Prairie View A&M University, Clyde was
drafted into the United States Army on February 10, 1967. He did his basic training in Fort
Polk, Louisiana and was transferred to combat in Vietnam.

HIS ADULTHOOD:
Upon returning to the United States, Clyde would marry his longtime sweetheart, Carrie Ann
Peoples. God rewarded this union with two wonderful gifts by birth – Tracey Lewis and Terry
Lewis.

HIS DEMISE:
Clyde's life came to an end on Monday, January 29th, 2024, when he answered the Lord's call.
He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Lewis, Sr.; mother, Elease Johnson; stepfather,
Wallace Johnson; brother, Michael Johnson, Sr.; great granddaughter, Syniah Williams.

HIS LEGACY:
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Carrie Lewis; his loving children, Tracey
Lewis (Zebrah) and Terry Lewis; grandchildren, Senora Moore, Tre Lewis, Jessica Music,
Cody Cantu and Zane Cantu; great grandchildren, Decoriun Bennett, Jr. and Marzelina
Sanchez; sister, Barbara Daniels (Herbert) and a host other relatives and friends.

HIS MEMORIES:
Those who knew Clyde will remember him as an intelligent, kind, and loving man with a
generous spirit and a strong sense of values. Clyde had a welcoming spirit. Once you were in
his circle of friends, you had a lifetime membership, and you knew it! The memories he leaves
behind will be a lasting treasure for generations to come.
