IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Damien N
Dibidika
July 4, 1956 – February 17, 2023
A Glimpse at the Life of
Damien Ngemba Dibidika
"Yaya Damien"
Damien Ngemba Dibidika, "Yaya Damien" passed away on February
17th, 2023 at five o' five p.m. in Dallas, Texas. He was born on July 4,
1956, in Mbanza-Ngungu, Democratic Republic of Congo, to the late
Joseph Malunga and Elisabeth Kioni.
Ya'Damien, as he was known, was a kind, humble, reserved and
God-fearing man. He generously gave his time and resources to family
and friends. He was a wonderful father, son, brother, and friend who
always encouraged and motivated those around him. But, he had his
own struggles like anyone else.
An athlete, he loved playing and watching basketball and soccer, of
which he played up to second division in Lufu-Toto. Additionally,
cooking was his other passion to decompress.
In his late twenties he immigrated to Angola, then Paris, and then
Switzerland where he became an engineer in the rail way system. He
was fluent in French, Portuguese, Kikongo, Lingala, and Spanish. His
English was fair.
In his late forties, Dibidika migrated to the U.S., where, after many
years of work, he started experiencing trouble with his health. He
struggled a lot but, maintained a smile, faith, hope, and dreams. Many
were not aware of his issues, not even the family.
Dibidika had eleven siblings. He is survived by his daughter: Esperance Dibidika; grand-daughters: Emmanuela and Chloe' Dibidika;
siblings: Antoinette Kilenga, Marie-Therese Folo, Guillamme Sangi,
Ivette Malunga and Bienvenu Malunga; Nieces and Nephews as well
as grand nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind few members of
the community who stood by his side until the very end.
Ya'Damien gave a lot to family and friends in many ways, even during
his darkest times (days). His main question was: "How did you change
the life of your neighbor, impact your community and thus, the
world?"
