Darrell Wayne Fountain was born June 10, 1966, in Lubbock, Texas to the parents of George Henry Wilbon and Gennell Fountain.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1984. Immediately after high school, he left for boot camp at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina. In 1984, Darrell joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendelton in Oceanside California.
Darrell married Christina Smith in 1987 while serving in California. To this union, Darrell Wayne Fountain II was born in September of 1988. Upon completion of his military duty, he resided in California for several years before returning to Texas. He attended Texas Tech University and worked various jobs before finding his passion in home remodeling. His most successful endeavor was establishing Darrell's Handyman Service, which was his pride and joy.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Henry Wilbon; his brother George Henry Wilbon Jr. and his grandmother, Roberta Fountain Clark.
Darrell's life and legacy will be forever cherished by his family and friends: most of all his mother, Gennell Fountain Nails; his son, Darrell Wayne Fountain II; his Sister, Dorothy Ann Wilbon; his brothers, David Wilbon, John Paul Wilbon, and Henry Clay Wilbon; his honorary sisters and brother Terry Wayne Jackson, Cynthia Darthard, Cheryl Jackson, and Tonya Jackson-Reeves; Uncles, Gerald Fountain and Clemmie Sheppard; Aunts, Bobbie Ann Dean, Geraldine(Donnie) Ellis, and Mae Catherine Lacy; and a host of very special cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends with bonds that are immeasurable .
