December 18, 1960 – September 3, 2019
On September 3, 2019, God called David James Chester Sr. to come and receive eternal rest. A new life has begun and the Angels in heaven are rejoicing. David James Chester Sr. was born December 18, 1960, to Mattie Chester and the late Denver Jones in Dallas TX.
David was a graduate of Garland High school class of '78 and in 1980, he joined the U.S. Army and later was honorably discharged. At an early age, David accepted Christ and was baptized. He has always had a love for God and in December 2003, he received his minister's license through the Church of God in Christ Inc. On June 28, 2005, he completed theological school at Northeast Texas Institute Ministerial and later went on to become an ordained Elder. At the time of his death, he was the Assistant Pastor at Grace Temple Covenant Church under the leadership of Superintendent Tommy Crosby.
David was employed with Varo, Valspar, Garland ISD, San Remo, and Road to Success Driving School. He was devoted and dedicated to his family and friends. He was loved by all and never met a stranger and he will be remembered for his loving and kind spirit.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 37 years, Vickie Chester; son David J. Chester, Jr.; daughters: Zasia Giddings, Zakia Evans (Nathan), Zanderia Davis (Reggie); 10 grandchildren; mother Mattie Chester; sisters: Debra Chester, Rhonda Brown (Nathan), Donna Jones, Dorothy Jones (Reginald), Lynn Jones, Anderia Langley (Eric); brothers: Bruce Chester (Paulette), Charles Chester (Patricia), Ricky Chester, Eric Chester; Reggie Jones; aunts: Katherine Johnson, Brenda Jones, Ida McBride; uncle Charles Frederick Chester and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
