IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deacon Franklin
Floyd Henson
February 1, 1941 – June 7, 2018
Franklin Floyd Henson was born February 1, 1941 in Kansas City, Kansas, the second son of Florence V. Franklin and Arie H. Henson, Sr. He attended elementary school in Kansas City, Kansas and later attended R.T. Coles Junior High and graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1959. Frank joined the US Air Force in July 1959 and served four years; 2 years at Hamilton AFB, California and 2 years at Ramstein AFB Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1963.
Upon discharge he attended Lincoln University and later graduated from Rockhurst University with a BS in Business Administration in 1975. Frank worked for the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department from 1965 to 1968, and had a long successful career with Mobil Oil from 1968 to 1992. His tenure with Mobil took him and his family to work and live in many cities including New Orleans, LA, Denver, CO, New York City, The Hague, Netherlands and Dallas TX. Later he worked for MSI (Marconi) from 1996 to 2002, LMC from 2005 to 2009 and Krypton Solutions from 2010 to 2018.
In 1964 he married Mary Elizabeth House and together they had one child, Sonya Denise. This marriage was later dissolved. He later married Sharon D. Talley and adopted her two children Chavella Lynette and Dawn Nicole, whom he raised and loved as his own. To this union, one daughter was born, Raeanne Denita.
Frank always took an active role in his local church and served the Lord in many ways. He was baptized by the late Rev. F. D. Gregory of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri in 1955 where he later served on the Trustee Board. Over the years he was a member of various churches as he relocated to different cities. He sang in the choirs of all of these churches, and was proud to have served as the Chairman of the Management Board of the American Protestant Church of the Hague. He has been a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for over 20 years. He faithfully served as President of the Executive Management Board, served on the Expansion and Finance Committees, Male Chorus, Brotherhood, and has been an ordained Deacon since 2004.
Frank worked hard and diligently to provide the best for his family. He was compassionate and loyal, and a constant friend. In the recent years, Frank and Sharon created many special memories cruising across the Caribbean as they shared their love of travel together. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially his kids, grandkids and great-grandchild. Frank was proceeded in death by his mother, father, step-mother, Mayla Henson, Brothers Arie H. Henson, Jr. and Willis W. Henson. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife of 43 years, Sharon Henson, 2 sisters, four children, 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Frank will live forever in our hearts and memories.
