Henry played both offense and defense on the football team; where he blocked for A. D. Whitfield a classmate and cousin at Wilson White High School in Rosebud, Texas. Henry was All-District two times during his high school playing days. He had an aspiration of playing for the Dallas Cowboys.
Whitfield later played one year for the Dallas Cowboys and three years for the Washington Redskins. Whitfield said of Henry, "Thanks for those Great Blocks."
