IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Mae
Ekwenugo
November 23, 1959 – October 7, 2022
Dorothy's Seasons of life
Season of Birth…
Dorothy Mae Ekwenugo was born November 23, 1959 in Karnack,
Texas to George and Ella Broadnax Rockwell. Dorothy was the third
of six children. She attended Marshall High School and was a graduate of the Marshall High School Class of 1977.
Planting Season…
Dorothy met and married Gabriel Ekwenugo and their love gave
birth to their son Gabriel in Dallas, TX.
They later parted ways, but remained friends and co-parented their
son. Dorothy later met Michael Walker and once again was blessed
to love, and that love gave birth to their beautiful daughter Michaela,
Michael died shortly afterwards. Dorothy was an independent and
loving Mother, she worked hard and provided well for her children
and later advanced as Administrator for the Lighthouse Daycare and
finished her career employed with Richardson School District.
Dorothy was an extraordinary Woman of God and delighted in the
love of her two beautiful children. She was a faithful, totally committed servant of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church/New Life
Fellowship Church/New Life Fellowship Church Unleashed and
(renamed) The Well Church under the pastorate of Apostle Miller E.
Johnson, Jr. and Executive Pastor Tina Johnson. Dorothy served
amazingly and relentlessly as Youth Ministry Servant leader for 18+
years and was instrumental in growing and impacting the lives of so
many youth that are now college attendees and graduates, military
serviced, successful professional leaders that love and know God
first and foremost. Dorothy served as Pastor Aide Ministry servant
leader, ministered in music, served in Outreach Ministry, served on
the Hospitality Committee, a disciple of No Sister Left Behind
Women's ministry, was an armor bearer for the ministry and more
recently served as Church Finance Co-Director. Dorothy was and
will forever be remembered as a true example of a Godly Servant up
until the final day of her life.
Caring and Laughing Season…
Dorothy loved her siblings, their children and her bonus sons and
was always there to support and care for them whatever their need.
Dorothy loved her Well Church family and was always there to love,
comfort and support in any and every capacity. She was a joy to have
around and a blessing to so many, she was always there to encourage
and lift others' spirits. Dorothy will always have a special place in all
our hearts as her laugh and smile were contagious and her image is
forever imprinted in our thoughts.
Season of Departure…
In God's infinite wisdom, He answered Dorothy's prayer and sent His
angels to escort our loving, devoted and precious sister home to glory
on October 7th, 2022.
Season of Peace…
Dorothy is now resting in the redemptive love of her Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. In life she was loving, kind, generous, selfless and
compassionate. In death, her life will live on through those that loved
her. Dorothy is preceded in death by her dear mother and father
George and Ella Broadnax Rockwell, sister Ella M. Morris and
brother Willie Rockwell. She leaves to cherish her memories; her
devoted and loving children, Gabriel Ekwenugo, Jr., and Michaela
Walker, two brothers, James Broadnax and Charles Moore; one sister,
Ruby Humble (Winfred) and Family Sister Judith Bell (Ronnie); four
nieces; Tasha, Kenesha, Christi and Christina; three nephews; Willie
