Dorothy Jean Terry was born in Tracy, Texas on September 13, 1934 to the parents of J.D. Terry, Sr. and Maxine Smith Terry. She was the second oldest of seven children. She graduated from Aycock High School where she played in the school's band and was a part of the girls' basketball team.

Dorothy professed Christ at an early age and joined Rising Star Baptist Church in Tracy, Texas where Rev. W.D. Westbrook was the pastor. The church later moved to Rockdale, Texas, where Dorothy met and married Walter Clark and they moved to Dallas, Texas.

On June 1, 1971 she joined Greater New Birth Baptist Church in Plano, Texas where her brother, Rev. Charles Terry, Sr. is the pastor. She attended Sunday School faithfully and sung in the choir. She was a faithful and dedicated member until her health failed.

Upon the death of her first husband, Walter, Dorothy met and later married the love of her life, Bobby Joe Hopson.

Dorothy was a very active lady. She loved to walk. She would walk her niece and nephew to school every day.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, J.D. and Maxine Terry; her older sister Eula Mae Johnson; brother Johnny E. Terry; and her husband Bobby Joe Hopson.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories, two sisters: Sara Terry and Barbara Ann Gaddis; two brothers: J.D. Terry, Jr., Charles R. Terry, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
