Eddie Lee Thursby was born January 25, 1947 to the union of Ocie and Lucy Thursby in Caddo Mills, TX. Eddie was raised by his father and a loving stepmother Maggie Lee Banks.
He received his education from Caddo Mills School and St. Paul High School
After high school he proudly served his country in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1967 to 1969. During his service in Vietnam he received several medals and awards.
Edie went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, October 6, 2015. Waiting to greet him there will be: his parents, Ocie and Lucy Thursby, stepmother Maggie Lee Banks; brothers, Otis Thursby, and Willie B. Goodlow; son, Kirk Durand Thursby; grandson Roland Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Shirley Thursby of Plano, TX; One brother Walter Ray Thursby (Fannie) of Greenville, TX; One sister Ruby Thursby Jones (Wilson) of Greenville, TX.; Four sons, Keith Ulric Thursby, Eddie Johnson, William Johnson, and Derick Johnson and one step-son, Orlando Steele; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
