Obituary

Elaine 'Lanie' Joseph peacefully entered eternal rest on September 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy. Elaine was born November 7, 1953, to the union of Adam Joseph, Sr. and Susie Cassimere Joseph.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Morris A. Edwards, Jr. Elaine was a devoted servant in her church communities. In New Orleans, she was a faithful member of Carver Desire Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James R. Willis, Jr., where she served as a Deaconess. After relocating to Dallas, Texas, she united with Sims Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Garland, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Richard C. Jones, where she joyfully served on the Culinary Team.

Elaine graduated from George Washington Carver Senior High School and later attended Sidney N. Collier School of Cosmetology. She went on to work as a beautician at Real People Beauty Salon in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she shared her gift and passion for beauty.

Following Hurricane Katrina, which destroyed her hometown, Elaine relocated to Dallas, Texas. Determined to continue her craft, she attended and graduated from Ogle Beauty School, where she obtained her Cosmetology Instructor's License. She later taught at ABC Beauty Academy, pouring her knowledge and heart into her students until her retirement in 2022. Her love for her craft and for teaching was so strong that, even after retirement, she returned to the classroom to continue inspiring the next generation of beauty professionals.

Elaine, affectionately known as "Lanie," will be remembered for her generous spirit, radiant smile, and the way she touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a gift for making people feel beautiful inside and out, and she carried herself with grace, strength, and faith throughout her life.

Elaine leaves to cherish her memories - her daughter, Keionna Joseph; daughter in love, Darleen Williams; three grandchildren, Travis Henry, Rodernika and Cornika Williams; two great grandchildren, Raynard and Rayden Walker; and two godchildren, Darnell Joseph, Sr. and Kermit Joseph, Jr.; three sisters, Ursula Lackings, Casandra Foy (Ronald), Cynthia Crenshaw (Jon Brett); one brother, Kermit Joseph, Sr. (Lisa); her niece, Vanessa George, who was like a sister; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, former students, colleagues, and friends who loved her dearly.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Susie Joseph, as well as her son Cornell Harris; four sisters, Augustine Gettridge, Marvel Richards, Susie Sparks and Debra Joseph; five brothers, Adam Jr., Phillip, Kelvin, Kenneth and Larry Joseph.
Elaine's life was a living testimony of faith, resilience, and love. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.
