Obituary

Essence Nacole Cheatham was born February 1, 2023, at the Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas to the parentage of Quinton Nealey, Jr. and Alexandra Cheatham. From the moment Essence entered the world, she transformed and changed the lives of so many, near and far. With such a bubbly spirit, there wasn't a day she didn't fill our hearts with joy and laughter.

Essence was christened at Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church in Garland, TX. A beautiful soul inside and out, she had the prettiest smile, the most warming laugh and the best silly faces. She was adventurous and gentle; she loved being outside taking in nature's finest and going to the park to play. She enjoyed dancing, clapping the day away, and at night, cuddling with those she loved the most.

Essence was a girly girl. What she loved most was being with her family, blowing bubbles, watching YouTube and Gracie's Corner, and playing with her toys. "Appleberries" strawberries were her favorite snack. When she would spend time with her "GPhat" (Fenterria) she would wake up early mornings and wander to her GPhat's mini fridge and grab a few!

Essence was a happy girl. On days when Essence was angry or sad, she never let it last linger on or infringe on the love she had for others. Speaking of an old soul who had been here before, our dear "Essie" as she was affectionately known, would have long conversations on the phone with Iola, Lonnie and her Roro (Curtriece). She would be excited to tell them about her day. Before she would end her day, she would find her aunt Paris so that they could spend their special bonding time together.

Essence gained her angel wings on July 9, 2025. The impression she left on the lives of others will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her great grandmother, Doris Ann Handy; great-great grandfather, Willard Cheatham and great -great grandmother, Doris Gene Evans.

Essence had a huge village of family and friends who loved her unconditionally. Those left to cherish her precious memory are as follows: her loving parents, Quinton Nealey, Jr. and Alexandra Cheatham; grandparents, Quinton Nealey, Sr., Fenterria Handy (Ramon), Willard Cheatham, Jr. (Moneka), Lonnie Ford; great grandparents, Rayford Armstrong (Zoe), LaShanda Nealey; and great-great grandmother, Charlene Cheatham; along with a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Our beloved, happy, loving girl - the light of our lives and the star of our hearts will forever be remembered. Essence Nacole Cheatham was joy personified and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
