Freddie Mae Holmes-Mejias was born on September 8, 1947, to the parentage of Fred and Imogene Holmes in Dallas, Texas. she grew up in the Dalworth Community of Grand Prairie, Texas where she accepted Christ at an early age and was a longtime member of Evening Chapel AME Church.

Ms. Freddie Mae attended Dalworth High School where she was a cheerleader and a part of the class of 1966. She dedicated herself to caring for others by working in the Healthcare Industry for many years. Upon her retirement, she continued to care for others by opening the doors of her home to so many.

On November 11, 2021, Freddie Mae went from labor to reward. She will be greeted at Heaven's Gates by her parents, Fred and Imogene Holmes, husband Jessie Mejias, brothers Fred, Jr. "Dickey", Dwight Holmes, and grandson De'Mar Jones.

Those left behind to celebrate her life and legacy are, her children: Vonitta (Marvin) Sanders, Wanetta Holmes, Victor Holmes, Carla Holmes, and Quyanna Holmes; three special sons: Ricky (Tracy) Hall, Damone Jones, and Terry Williams; brothers: Tyrone (Florida) Holmes, Sr., and Terry Holmes; sisters: Diann Jones, and Bonnie Adams; grandchildren: Bromeka (Christopher) Koger, Yuleici (Brian) Francis, Danique Holmes, Deonta Lewis, David Holmes, LaKeidra Holmes, Adrianna Gutierres, Breonna Tolliver, and Khalyn Patten; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
