Remembering the Life and Legacy of
Mrs. Gazell Richard Jackson
Gazell Richard Jackson Tolliver was born on May 5, 1925 to Hubbard
Richard and Fannie Caraway Richard in Timpson, Texas.
Mrs. Gazell attended Benavista Elementary School in New Prospect,
Texas. She also attended Franklin Beauty College in Houston, Texas.
Later, she married Mr. Bernice Tolliver of whom preceded in death.
Mrs. Gazell and her husband moved to Grand Prairie, Texas in the early
1950s where she raised six children and lived the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Gazell was the owner/operator of Crown's Barbeque for over forty
years. She was affectionately known as "Mrs. Crown" by her customers
throughout the City of Grand Prairie and he neighbors and friends in
the Dalworth Community. "Mrs. Crown" had a kind heart; she never
failed to do what she could to help someone. Whether it was someone
hungry who came into her barbeque place but could not afford the price
of a sandwich or if she was providing a barbeque meal to a grieving
family, she gave freely and with love/ She performed many acts of
kindness through the years.
Mrs. Gazell left this earthly life at the age of ninety-seven years old.
She was preceded in death by her spouse Bernice Tolliver, Sr.; her children: Danny Lee Jackson, Berdell Tolliver Morales and Jay Vance
Jackson.
Mrs. Gazell leaves behind loving children: Fannie Marie Jackson of
Houston, Texas, Edworne Tolliver Green (Edward) of Grand Prairie,
Texas and Bernis Edward Tolliver (Inez) of DeSoto, Texas; one aunt
Mrs. Juanita Oliver of Grand Prairie, Texas; devoted granddaughters
Amber Calton (Shawn) and Lowneka Calton (Peaches) that were both
there week in and week out during her illness; a devoted cousin Mrs.
Ethaul Pleasant (Leonard) Grand Prairie, Texas, ten grandchildren;
twenty-one great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and host
of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
More than remembered, "Mrs. Crown" will ALWAYS be loved.
