IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George A.
Garner
April 1, 1949 – November 21, 2025
George Andrew Garner was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was the loving brother of two sisters, Dolores Grinstead and Mary Ethel Gorman. He was raised by his mother, Gladys Garner, whose strength and guidance shaped the man he became. Although his mother, Gladys Garner, and his sister, Mary Ethel Gorman, preceded him in death, their love and influence remained a constant presence throughout his life. George went on to become a devoted husband, father, grandfather, deacon, veteran, and friend whose life reflected faith, strength, and compassion.
George proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, where he demonstrated courage and honor. His sacrifice was recognized with the Purple Heart, a testament to his bravery and commitment to protecting others. After returning home, he continued to live with the same quiet strength and dignity that defined him throughout his life.
A man deeply grounded in faith, George was a dedicated member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon. He carried out his service with humility, sincerity, and a genuine love for God and his community.
George shared a loving and fulfilling life with his wife, Joyce Garner. Their blended family brought him immeasurable joy. He was the proud father of Victoria Garner, who has five children; Arnesha (Ronnie "Maurice"), Garner-Trotter who has three children and one grandchild; G. Michelle Garner, who has one child; and his bonus daughter, M. Joy (Neko) Beal-Brown, who has three children. His children and grandchildren were a source of pride, and he poured love, guidance, and prayer into each of their lives.
His memory is carried on through his sister, Dolores Grinstead, and his God sister, Clara E. Miller; Leon Brown and John Dunn; along with his wife, children, bonus daughter, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and all who were blessed to know him. George will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, steady presence, and gentle smile that brought comfort to every room he entered.
George's life leaves behind a legacy of faith, humility, service, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to live in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
