IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harry Ray
Spivey
September 30, 1961 – May 24, 2022
Harry was born on September 30, 1961, in Houston, TX to Henry Spivey and Bobra Winston. He grew up in a loving family with one sister and two brothers. At the age of 13, he relocated to Grand Prairie, TX to live with his grandparents, Robie and Eishman Wynne. Harry attended Grand Prairie High School and graduated in 1980. In high school, he was an All-Star basketball player and a beloved Gopher by many. He earned a basketball scholarship to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. OK, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Parks and Recreation and Drivers Education in 1984.
Harry returned to Grand Prairie and worked at Dalworth Recreation Center for 18years. At the center, Harry was beloved by the seniors and youth alike. He had such a positive, lasting impact on the youth in the community and was responsible for many of the programs that still exist today. Later, Harry became the Owner/Operator of his own trucking company. When diagnosed with colorectal cancer on June 1, 2012, he remained dedicated to his work and in his will to fight his illness. He continued to work and support his family until he could no longer do so. He remained a brave, iron-willed man, even throughout his final months.
After a 10-year battle with cancer, Harry Ray Spivey passed away on May 24, 2022, at his home in Grand Prairie, TX at the age of 60. Harry is survived by his wife Melissa Tyler-Spivey; daughters, Valencia and Sierra Spivey; sons, Harry Jr., Camron, and Santana; grandsons, Kade Spivey and Elijah Firebaugh as well as his sister Valencia Spivey Thomas; his brothers Ricky (Cathy) Wynne and Harvey (Jackie) Spivey; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
