IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hattie Bell
Williams
July 1, 1946 – May 5, 2022
Hattie Bell Pittman was born on July 1, 1946. Her parents, Overseer Percy A. Pittman and Olia Odessa Pittman rejoiced at the birth of their first daughter.
Hattie attended schools in Texas and California. She graduated from San Francisco Polytechnic High School. After high school, she attended San Francisco Business College and graduated with honors.
She married Kenneth R. Washington, Sr. in 1964. To this union were born three children - Karen, Kenneth, and Kaniece. She moved her family to Dallas, TX after divorcing Kenneth. Hattie was married to Johnnie Williams from 1972 until 1976.
Upon moving to Dallas, Hattie worked at Zale's Jewelry. Next, she worked at Desoto Paint/Valspar. Lastly, Hattie Williams taught for Garland Independent School District elementary schools. Hillside Academy and Watson Elementary were the two campuses she served the longest. Hattie retired from Garland ISD.
Hattie Pittman Williams lived a great life. She could throw down in the kitchen, and she always had something prepared to serve, regardless of the day. She enjoyed "Fish-Fry Fridays" with her closest friend of over 40 years, Margaret Sullivan, as well as spending time with Margaret's family. She loved to take trips to the casino. She was also an avid St. Jude donor. Hattie was undoubtedly passionate about her family. A selfless giver, she always did what she could to help her family and friends because she wanted the best for everyone. Hattie was honest and straightforward, as well. She was the matriarch of her family.
On May 5, 2022, Hattie Pittman Williams crossed the gates of eternity to lie in the corridors of eternal rest. Her life has been her tribute.
Her father, Overseer Percy A. Pittman Sr., her mother, Olia O. Pittman, and her brothers, Percy A. Pittman Jr., Charles Pittman, and Johnny Pittman preceded her in death.
