IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hazel Ann
Costello
August 21, 1953 – January 10, 2018
Hazel Ann Costello was born August 21, 1953 to Herbert and Julia Washington in Brooklyn, New York. She was the fourth child of six children born into the family.
She married John Costello while living in the Bronx, New York. The marriage dissolved and she moved to Plano, Texas to be with her family.
Hazel worked for a period of time at the United States Custom Office. She also worked for the Plano Independence School District in the Nutritional Department. Hazel blessed many families with a loving and safe In-Home Childcare. Those relationships continued even after the childcare ended.
Hazel's greatest joy was her family. She was not blessed with children of her own, so she showered her nieces and nephews with love that only a mother could give. She never met a stranger. She always insisted on having a conversation, as if she knew you. Hazel was a small person but had a heart as big as the world. If you were in need and she had it to give, it was yours. Hazel enjoyed cooking and having people over to enjoy her meals.
Hazel loved life. She was always ready to party. She loved to dance and wanted everyone to join the party. She always had a camera in her purse ready to capture the events of the day.
She joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, and always looked forward to hearing Pastor Joshua preach, when she was able to attend. She truly looked forward to the annual Christmas Concert.
Hazel is proceeded in death by her parents Julia and Herbert Washington, her brother Dennis Washington and her grandparents.
Hazel is survived by sisters and respective brother in laws. Carol Washington -White (Andrew) Plano, TX, Phyllis Grant (Joseph) Plano, TX, Lorraine Washington (Far Rockaway, NY) and Paulette Greene (Kelvin) Pocono, PA. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
