Herman H. Broadus was born in Hampton County, SC in the City of Spartanburg on July 6, 1926, to Rev. William Brauders and Nettie Davis. Herman H. Broadus passed away on April 20, 2022, at the amazing age of 95.
He was married to Olivia J. Gilliam Broadus for 56 years!
Spent his early childhood education in the Spartanburg, SC school system with his 6 sisters and brothers, Roosevelt Broadus, John Broadus, William M Broadus, Arlease Harper, Annie Lee Johnson, and Lucille Dominick. He moved to Texas where he lived in Fort Worth and Mansfield before settling with his family in Grand Prairie. He married his valentine sweetheart, Mrs. Olivia J. Broadus on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1958. He has 5 children, Rosalind R. Thomas, Brenda G. Moore, Ricky D. Broadus, Syida Johnson, and Harold Randall. He graduated from TCU, Fort Worth, Texas
Herman Broadus was baptized into Christ in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a faithful member of the West Mansfield Church of Christ (Clifton Douglas) and the Dalworth Park Church of Christ (Sam Jones). He was the song leader at both congregations, taught bible class, and was the team leader for Group Four.
He began his military career with U.S. Army and then reenlisted in the
U.S. Air Force(1952). He reached the rank of Staff Sergeant and served in World War II(1941) and The Vietnam War(1964). He was seriously injured on March 17, 1966, while fueling an Air Force Fighter Jet. He sustained second and third-degree burns on over 55% of his body and yet survived. He served a combination of 18 years in the military. Shortly, after his recovery, he volunteered at Dallas VA for over 10 years.
He spent the last 12 years of his life at the Dallas CLC where he made many friends. The caller of Bingo for his fellow residents and a singer on Tuesday with pianist Mary Jo. He loved to eat watermelon, and drink Orange soda. He loved listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra he knew every song. He was named Outstanding Resident of the Year. He was loved by many.

Survivors include 2 sons, Ricky D Broadus, and Harold Randle. Three daughters, Syida Johnson, Rosalind R. Thomas, Brenda G. Moore,3 grandsons, Marcus Johnson, Adrian Broadus, Donovan Broadus, 4 granddaughters, Clarice Newsome, Ursalind Y. Newsome, Amber Huger (Chuck), Whitney Moore, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great, great granddaughter, Ariyah Hodge and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
