Born in 1946 in Frost, Texas, Iva Mae grew into a woman who believed in showing up for others through a warm meal, a listening ear, or a gentle word at just the right moment. A proud graduate of I.M. Terrell, she carried the lessons of community and perseverance with her throughout life. Her home was a place of comfort and steady support where family and friends always found encouragement and care.

Service and Career

After graduating, Iva Mae enlisted in the United States Navy in 1966, where she received her nursing training and later earned an honorable discharge. Her training and service deepened a lifelong commitment to caring for others and to supporting fellow veterans. She remained close to the veteran community and took special joy in spending time with those who had served.
