Jerry L.
Johnson
Dec 29, 1967 — Jul 5, 2026
Jerry Lynn Johnson was born on December 28, 1967, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Virgil Johnson, Sr. and Anna Johnson.
He was raised in Dallas, where he attended Bryan Adams High School and formed lifelong friendships while building the foundation for the man he would become. Jerry dedicated his career as a Janitorial Engineer, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He took pride in every task and believed in doing his work with excellence.
Outside of work, Jerry was known for his vibrant personality and love of life. He was an exceptional cook who enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. Whether in the kitchen or playing games, Jerry's competitive spirit always shined through. He loved a good challenge, treasured time with those he loved, and had a way of bringing laughter and joy wherever he went.
The greatest change in Jerry's life came in 2025 when he professed his faith in Christ Jesus. His decision reflected his desire to grow spiritually and place his trust in the Lord, bringing peace and hope to his life.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Johnson, Sr. and Anna Johnson; his brother, Virgil Johnson, Jr.; his sisters, Debra Johnson and Carolyn Johnson; and his beloved nephews, Bruce Jones, Jr. and Brian Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving son, Jerry McCoy Johnson, Jr.; his cherished stepchildren, Kendrick McCoy and Chiquita McCoy; his brother, Larry Johnson; his sisters, Kathleen Johnson, Cecelia Jones, Iva Johnson, and Bettie Appiah (Benjamin); his beloved grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.
Jerry's life was a reminder that love is best expressed through time spent together, laughter shared, and meals prepared with care. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, determination, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
