John Ben Brookins, Jr. was born in Longview, Texas on July 26,
1957, to the parents of Betty L. Brookins and John Ben Brookins, Sr.
The family moved to Garland, Texas in the early 1960s. John
attended George Washington Carver, and later graduated from South
Garland High School in 1974. He loved playing basketball, spending
time with his family and friends and socializing with his peers at the
Garland Senior Center.

John retired from Payless Cashways in Garland, Texas after twenty
years of service. He then employed himself with Sanden
International USA in Wylie, Texas for twelve years before
permanently retiring.

John is preceded in death by his mother Betty Brookins; father John
Brookins, Sr.; brother Jeffery Brookins; grandparents Lela Stanfield,
Lucy Brookins and Annual Brookins.

He leaves loved ones to cherish his memories; Regina Brookins,
daughter Tara Brookins-Bates; grandchildren Isaiah Dawson,
Brooklynn and Cameron Bates;
Siblings Charles Taylor, Carl
Tramble, Esther Mays, VaLisa
Brookins, Bruce Brookins, Darryl
Brookins, Cedric Brookins, and
a host of relatives and friends.
