IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnny Martin
Hubbard
September 15, 1942 – February 3, 2024
Johnny M. Hubbard was born on September 15, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to Hazie B. Hubbard and Callie Mae Thomas. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in his early years. He went to James Madison High School.
Johnny met and married his late wife, Christine Foster, and to this union four sons were born.
With a positive perspective and zeal for life, he became a professional truck driver. From 1978-1983, he worked as supervisor for N.C.P. Janitorial Service where he employed many church members.
In 1981, he became a member of the West Dallas Ministerial Alliance under the late Dr. W.W. Bookman; currently Dr. M.L. Curry. He continued fellowship with various churches in the Dallas area. Johnny embarked on his spiritual journey with only six members, when organizing Greater Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church in 1984. Just one year later, he was appointed as Pastor of Zion Rest Missionary Baptist Church, where he served for twenty eight years. In 2004, he retired from the official role as Pastor, but continued to serve in ministry wherever he was needed.
On May 28, 2011, Johnny married Barbara Morgan, of Coolidge Texas. He later became Pastor Emeritus of Zion Rest Missionary Baptist Church, residing Senior Pastor, R. Simpson. He continued to minister and inspire until his health began to fail. Johnny M. Hubbard leaves us with a final powerful testament of his unwavering trust in and love for God.
