Kenneth Wayne Smith, the youngest son of the late Charlie and Veola Smith,
was born July 14,1961 in Dallas, TX. He had many nicknames that he was
affectionally known by: Kent, Uncle Kent, Charlie Son, Kenna Wayne, Uncle
Pete, Bruh, and Stick Horse.
Kenneth received his formal education in the Grand Prairie Independent School District
beginning at Dalworth Elementary. He graduated from South Grand Prairie High School,
Class of 1981.
Kenneth was a longtime member of Lighthouse Deliverance Church of God in Christ. At an
early age, he entrusted his soul to Jesus Christ, believing Him as his Savior.
Kenneth was a hardworking man. He began his career with Kroger CO in June/1979 as a
stocker and remained until 2002 after taking an early retirement due to his health.
Kent had several hobbies that he enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, and drawing. He
considered himself a passionate fisherman. He also loved family gatherings, eating, drinking
sodas, playing the Lottery/Scratch Offs, smoking cigarettes, and driving his truck. He always
had Something to say about Something. His favorite TV shows were Westerns, Kung Fu
movies, etc. Kenneth Smith was a board member of the Grand Prairie Juneteenth Committee,
which he loved and served for many years.
Preceding Kenneth in death are his parents, Charlie and Veola Smith; siblings, Harold Smith,
Albert Smith and Christine Chatman; two nieces, and a nephew.
Kenneth leaves to cherish his Memories; brother, Jerry L. Smith of Grand Prairie, TX; three
sisters; Kechia Smith-Dixon (Preston) of Grand Prairie, TX; Atlean West, of Grand Prairie, TX
and Betty Smith(Jessie) of Ft. Worth, TX; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and
nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; two aunts, Maurice Robinson of Dallas, TX and
Mary Grace Barnes of Ft. Worth, TX; a special niece/sister, Pam Chatman; and host of family
and close friends.
