IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kirk
Jones
April 7, 1966 – December 21, 2019
Kirk was born on April 7, 1966, in Grand Prairie, Texas to Bettye Ann Jones and Sollie Lucky Randle. Kirk was a 1984 graduate of Grand Prairie High School.
Kirk accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Sunset Baptist Church where he was Pastor McGruder's Armor Bearer, his driver, participated as an Honorary Usher, Trustee, Parking Attendant, Nurses Unit Assistant, and Security Team Member.
Kirk worked at Head Start in Grand Prairie, Texas as a Teacher's Aide working with children. He also worked at Prime Prep Academy a charter school co-founded in 2012 by Deion Sanders and D.L. Wallace. He worked at Park Place Lexus in Dallas detailing cars. He later began his own detail business for himself over 30 years until he was forced to quit due to his health.
He enjoyed sports and played basketball for the Dalworth Dragons and ran summer track for the Dalworth Recreation Center.
He was a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles and L.A. Lakers fan. While Kirk would attend a Dallas Cowboys Game, he would sit on the Cowboys side, but you could hear him cheering for the other team.
He loved people and people loved him which is evident by those here today. He had a unique personality that attracted people from all walks of life. The love he had for his neighborhood, the relationship he had with kids as Uncle Kirk, and the joy he had for his family was beyond measures.
Kirk wanted to give back and by doing so he helped organize a Walk a Thon where hundreds of people came to participate in the "Kirk Walk for Hope" which the City of Grand Prairie proclaimed it as Kirk Jones Day. Kirk donated proceeds to Children for Cancer, Parkland Hospital, Dallas, Texas.
He showed remarkable strength and courage until the end. He never complained. When asked how he was doing, "he would say it's hard but it's fair". He never gave up. It was stated that death would have to catch him because he was not standing still for it.
He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Hattie Jones; John and Jimmie Randle; Brother, Dexter Ray Hood.
Precious memories of Kirk will be cherished by his mother, Bettye Ann Jones of Grand Prairie, Texas; father, Sollie Lucky Randle of Duncanville, Texas; sisters, Dawn Jackson (Calvin) of Duncanville, Texas; Tarrance Jones of Grand Prairie, Texas; Special friend; Natasha Jolivette of Mansfield, Texas; (brothers) Matthew C. McGruder and Milton Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, lifelong buddies, Derrick Autry and Daryl Lawson.
