Lester Woods was born on October 20, 1946 in Longview, Texas to the
parentage of the late Governor Woods and Beulah Mae Wilburn. During his
earlier years, Lester was raised with his five brothers and two sisters in the
Longview and Kilgore, Texas area where he received his primary education
and graduated from C. B. Dansby High School in 1966.

After graduation, Lester later moved to Garland, Texas where he met and married his wife
of fifty years, Anna Parker and they raised their two sons Lester Anthony Woods and
Ivory Levan Armstead, Jr. who preceded him in death.

Lester accepted Christ and was baptized at Mount Hebron Missionary Baptist Church
where he was a member with his wife, Anna.

Lester worked for Fedex as a courier for 18 years until his retirement. In his spare time,
Lester could be found playing golf and when he wasn't on the putting green, he enjoyed
doting on his grandchildren and great grandchildren who held a special place in his heart.

Lester Woods passed away quietly at home surrounded by his loved ones on June 4th,
2024.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Anna P. Woods; son, Lester Anthony
Woods; daughter, JaShondra Crockett-Brown (Cynthia); five brothers, Perry Wayne
Woods, Sammy Earl Woods who both preceded him in death, David Woods (Darlene) of
Wiley TX, Mark Louis Woods and Otis Wilburn Sr. of Garland, TX; two sisters, Brenda
Fortson who also preceded him in death and Alwilda Woods (Ronnie) of Garland, TX;
grandchildren, Braylon Armstead, Aisha Armstead, Alyssa Warren (Kanard), Marquis
Woods, Portia Maeanna Woods, and Joshua Crockett; six great-grandchildren Devin,
Braylah, Lennox, Lyric, Keanu and Makani and a host of relatives and friends.

Lester will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. A pillar
of strength and a beacon of love, his absence leaves a void in our hearts. He will be sorely
missed by many relatives and friends, and his love will live in our hearts forever... Until
we meet again.
