IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lola M.
Gay
October 6, 1951 – July 22, 2022
The celebration of life for Lola Marie Gay began on October 06, 1951. It brought forth a new life to the parents of the late Isaac Bush and the late Helen Fay Lewis in Dallas, TX.
Lola accepted Christ as her savior at a very early age at Greater New Zion Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. A. V. Voice. Later in life, she became a member of Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church where the Rev. Hosea T. Epps was Pastor. She served as a faithful member of the church, Mass Choir, and Vice President of the Usher Board #2. Later in life when Lola's ability to walk started to dwindle, she then started attending online church with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas where she later joined under the Pastorage of Pastor Columbus E. Hill until the Lord called her home to be with him.
Lola attended Dallas Independent School District and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. She was a part of the Maurine F. Bailey Concert Choir and a member of the Almighty Purple Flash Drill Team.
Lola met the love of her life at an early age. She married Leroy Gay Jr July 21, 1971, and was in marital bliss for 46 years, then the lord called him home. During their marriage, God blessed them with two beautiful children, Leroy "Rock" Gay III and Lisa Elaine Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Gay Jr., her sister Ethel Lewis, God brother Earnest Cook and Goddaughter Sharon Williamson.
Lola leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Leroy "Rock" Gay III, her daughter, Lisa Barnes, and husband Brandon from Heartland, Texas, one sister, Veronica "Yonka" Bush, and husband Alvin of Dallas, Texas; one sister-in-law Helen "Ann" Jackson of Dallas, Texas; one brother-in-law Donald "Don" Baskerville of Terrell, Texas; six grandchildren: Leslie "Tre", Artaejah "Tae" husband Tre of Duncanville, Texas, Demaree' "D", LeDavian "DayDay", Brandon Jr. "Bj", and Elijah "BoBo"; two great-grandchildren: Patience "PayPay" and Zaiden "CoCoa" and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. God saw fit to place many special people in Lola's life whom she held near and dear to her heart. Within those people, he sent a best friend of over 40 years, Ethel Brown, and a Goddaughter Amanda "Mandy" husband Wes, all from Crandall, Texas. Lola was loved dearly and will be missed by all her family and friends.
