Marlyn Lamar Gillespie made his grand entrance into the world on October 6, 2003, in Dallas, Texas to Marcel Gillespie and Lydonya Idom. He departed his Earthly life on August 17, 2022, and the young age of 18.

Marlyn started his education at Cooper Elementary where he was identified as a genius. He later went on to attend Liberty Middle School where he met his first love, Maranda Stevens. The two were inseparable and spent the whole day together, every day whether in person or on the phone. He later graduated from Lake Highlands High School.

During the 18 years of his life, Marlyn enjoyed music, playing NBA Basketball on his PlayStation, and he loved boxing. He was a social butterfly and would be described as a young counselor to some, overall, he loved his family.

Marlyn loved everyone he befriended. He had a leadership spirit and always looked for the best in people.

He is survived by, his father Marcel Gillespie; mother Lydonya Idom; great-grandmother; Ella Mae DeGrate; grandmothers: Ester Welch, Jean Hawkins, and Agerain Gillespie; grandfathers: Elihu Gillespie, Lonnie Idom, and Jeffrey Alexander; siblings: Alexis DeGrate, Israel Gillespie, Gabriel Gillespie, Marcel Gillespie, Jr., Marticia Gillespie, Jazmine Malone, Marcel Gillespie III, Owen Graham, Mya Freemont, Alvin Freemont, and Ada Griffiths; uncles: Alonzo Welch, Lonnie Idom, LaJauhn Gillespie, Cameron Gillespie, Antwoine DeGrate, and Melvin DeGrate; aunts: Natasha Allen, Teneca Idom, Candace McCalister, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
