IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ann
Davis
May 19, 1947 – February 7, 2026
Mary's Ann Davis went home to be with the Lord, February 7, 2026. She was born May 19, 1947, to Chester and Maria Green in Marks, Mississippi.
Mary had eight (8) siblings:
Four Sisters
Irene Green (deceased)
Lula Handy (Mesquite, TX)
Martha Wiley (Batesville, MS)
Carolyn King, youngest (Plano, TX)
Four Brothers
Chester Green (deceased)
Moses Green(deceased)
James Green (Kim/wife) (Garland, TX)
Louis Green (Barbara/wife) (Riverdale, GA)
Mary went to Westside Jr. High School and later attended Quitman County High School (Madison S. Palmer High School) in Marks, Mississippi, where she graduated.
She moved to Chicago, IL., where she met and married Daniel Cooper to which she had her first son, Alan and later Jerome. Daniel and her eventually separated and divorced.
Later in life she fell in love with Jess L. Howard, with whom she remained until 1983, and to that union, her third son, Quentin was born.
She remained in Chicago until 2002, where she was employed at S. Rosen/Maryann's Bakery where she established many friends i.e. Ann Mann, Earline Bickhem, David Trace and Elizabeth (Liz) Mitchell.
Mary later married Oscar Davis, her childhood 'sweetheart' and moved to Laporte, TX where she stayed until Oscar's transition in 2017.
Known for her 'snappy comebacks' and 'quick wits' when generally communicating with people, it can be easy to take her the wrong way. Those that knew her well, learned to snapback just as quickly as she did, then she'd leave you alone. They all learned that she was a sweetheart ...
MOSTLY.
Mary's legacy will live on in her 5 grandchildren ... Jocelyn, Jaylyn, Junia, Chaquin, Jessica; and 2 great grandchildren, Morgan and Makai.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the many lives she enriched. The special love Mary had for her family will live on in our hearts.
