Maurice Prince, a beloved father known as "Pops" and "Boss Man" to many passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. He was born in Plano, Texas on February 12, 1938 to the late Earnistine Pier and Geno Robertson.
He attended Plano school and graduated from Douglass High. Maurice married Francis Prince and with this union four children were born; and later remarried Betty Prince and fathered and extended his family with four more children. He worked for Capital Wire & Cable in Plano in a Management role for 42 years and upon retirement, he worked for the City of Plano as a Crossing-Guard to ensure the safety of the Elementary students. Maurice was a member of Hill Chapel CME Church in Plano, TX and was an Usher and member of the Male Choir for many years.
He lived life to the fullest, from a young age, his true passions were golf, woodworking and Carpentry. Maurice combined both of those interests and begin to make furniture as a hobby. Also, he was a Golf Caddy in his younger years to learn, master his craft and played for several years. Later, he developed a love for bowling and car racing, he joined many bowling leagues and was a spectator at several car racing tracks. When his health started to fail, he then devoted himself to speaking with and motivating others; one of his favorite things to do was taking car rides with family and friends giving him the opportunity to spend quality time while telling numerous stories, offering advice and giving encouragement. A friend to all, he will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by both Parents; Son: Daryl Prince; Sisters: Cassina "Molly" Pier and Roberta Murphy; Brothers: Jessie Williams, Robert Lee (R.L.) Pier, M.L. Pier, Jerry Pier, Columbus Madison (C.M.) Pier and Willie Pier.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his children: Debra Griggs (Spud), Sachse, TX, Maurice Prince, Jr., Dallas, Texas, Broderick Prince, Dallas, TX, Kevin Thompson, Plano, TX, Vivian Connally, Dallas, TX, LaQuisha Thompson, Plano, TX and Robert Prince (Jennifer), Plano, TX; over 40 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; Brother: James Hannibal (Louise), Sun City, Arizona and Sister: Georgia Simmons of Richmond, California, and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
