MD Gates was born on November 3, 1945 to Louisa Caraway in Shreveport, LA. He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age. He spent his early childhood in Garrison, TX and later moved to Grand Prairie (Dalworth). He was a 1963 graduate of Dalworth High School. After graduation, he enrolled in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. MD was honorably discharged from the US Army on November 30, 1970.
To continue his legacy, he leaves his children, Tina Gates Herring of Arlington, Darryel Gates of Ft Worth, Rondalus Gates of Desoto, Erika Jones of Ft Worth & Michael Gates (Amanda) of Mantua, UT, 8 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory his sisters Allie J. Cole and Betty J. Caraway both of Shreveport, LA. & Florine Shepard (Charlie) of Arlington; brother, Ricky Gates of Arlington; aunt, Juanita Oliver and a special friend Dezarae Oates. A host of family & friends that will cherish his memories forever.
