Mearl D. Jones was born in Dallas, Texas on the 24th day of July 1960 to Jonathan and Stellar Proctor.

Mearl later moved to Oakland, California in 1968, where she attended Prescott Elementary, Hoover Middle School, and McClymondes High School. Later, she gave life to her first child, Kenneth Jones. She was then blessed with two more sons, Andre Drumgoole
and Damion Jones.

In 1999, Mearl married Charles Houff and they began a happy life together. They enjoyed going out to dinner and catching a movie occassionally.

Mearl enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, as well as shopping. She also loved music and taking in the community's children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Houff; father, Jonathan Proctor; her oldest son, Kenneth Jones; grandmother, Minnie Pearl Jones; and two aunts, Anne Carson and Christine Cotton.

Mearl is remembered by her mother, Stellar Proctor; her step mother, Mozell Proctor; her sons, Andre' Drumgoole (Rekeisha) and Damion Jones; her sisters, Renee Proctor and Cynthia Proctor; her brothers, Jonathan Proctor, Reginald Proctor and Delbert Proctor, Sr.; and a host of grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends.
