Mrs. Melba Lee Luckey-Stephens was born on August 16, 1936 in Bryan Mills, Texas to the late Avery Luckey and Minnie Heath-Luckey. She graduated at the top of her class from Panhandle High School in Panhandle, Texas.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful and loyal member of the Holy Grace Tabernacle in Garland, Texas under the leadership of Bishop Eddie Willis for over 30 years.

Melba met and married Pastor O.L. Stephens and to their union six beautiful children were born. She was a dedicated housewife, mother and entrepreneur. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, doing crossword puzzles, making quilts and her favorite thing to do was spend time with the ones she loves, her family.

Melba left her earthly home to live eternally in the Kingdom of Heaven on February 18, 2018. She is greeted at the gates of heaven by, her parents Avery & Minnie Luckey; her son Harold Glen Stephens; and her siblings: Willie B. Luckey, Avery "Uncle Brother" Luckey, Jr., Sylverine Willis, and Lizzie Faye Sloan.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children: Gary Stephens (Joyce) of Murphy, TX., Kenneth Stephens of Dallas, TX., Floyd Ray Stephens (Donna) of Houston, TX., Pamela Stephens St. James of Sugarland, TX., and Patricia Stephens-Wheeler of Carrolton, TX., sixteen grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; siblings: Billy James Luckey, Bettie Rhea Luckey-Stephens, Dorothy Mae Moore, Myrtle Lynn Luckey and Velma Jean Wilson (Walter) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends .
