IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melvin D.
Wright
June 10, 1956 – November 16, 2025
Remembering the Blessed Life of Melvin DWayne "Wayne" Wright
Melvin DWayne Wright, known as Wayne, was born on June 10, 1956, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, to Emmitt and Nina Wright.
Wayne (as he was affectionately called) received his education at George Washington Carver and later at Garland High School in Garland, TX.
Wayne spent many years working at NTB Tires before going into business with his brothers under the name "The Wright Brothers." After several years of working alongside them, he continued his career independently until his health began to decline in 2022.
Known for his sharp style, clean dress attire, and signature brim hats, Wayne made an impression wherever he went. He enjoyed spending time at Mr. J's, Gayle Fields Park, and playing domino table where he was well-recognized and respected. His many jokes and presence brought laughter and warmth to all who knew him.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Nina Wright; his brothers, Thomas Earl and Don Wright; and his grandson, Amari Glaspie.
He leaves to cherish his memory his three sons: Melvin Glaspie, Ladarris Johnson, and Michloas Love; his special son, DeJuan Redwood (Shanna); his special daughter, Emerald Stephens. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Melvin Jr. and Ashante Glaspie, Aaliyah, Darris, Meloh, Mykoh, Nyloh, and Zyloh Johnson; Michloas Jr., Dehania and Octavia Love; his special grandchildren, Janai Thomas, Aria, and Jasai Stephens and his great-granddaughter, Amari Glaspie.
He is further survived by his sister, Helen Wright-Carter (Willie); his brothers, Rickey Wright (Mary) and James Johnson (Sandra); his sisters-in-law, Wanda Wright and Anita Wright; his uncle, Curtis Clark; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Wayne's legacy lives on in the love he shared, the jokes he made, the memories he created, and the family he cherished. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
