Mia Keshaun Huland was born July 2, 1981, in McKinney, Texas. She was the 7th child of 11 children born to William and Synthia Huland. Mia entered eternal peace in the outstretched arms of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
"A beautiful life that finished her course far too soon" is an expressed sentiment echoed by all who knew her, but we know God in his infinite wisdom makes no mistakes.
Mia started her primary education at Nell Burks Elementary School in McKinney, Texas. She graduated from McKinney High School in 1999. Mia attended Collin College and the University of North Texas, pursuing her passion for Early Childhood Education. She was a Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education member.
Mia dedicated nearly two decades of her life to impacting other lives with the City of Allen as an Exceptional Extraordinary Lead Recreation Specialist at Joe Farmer Recreation Center. She was a special lady who had a big heart and deeply cared for people. Her co-workers, friends, and family knew Mia to be there for others and lend a proactive listening ear. She made special care packages for staff that left for new life adventures, and she even went as far as sewing a wedding dress for a co-worker.
Mia loved to worship the Lord with tambourines and songs. She was an integral part of the choir ministry and served in the hospitality department with a loving smile. She was dynamic in her church ministry and everyday life.
Mia was a genuinely unique soul that was loved by many. She could be very quiet, but she enjoyed having a good time. Mia loved to gather with family and friends. She was an avid traveler. She loved to read, enjoyed movies, explored new series, and was a historical archiver. Mia's beautiful photography and videography captured some of our fondest memories. Mia was a huge supporter. She was a great motivator of people, and her larger-than-life personality was often loud and boisterous. Her energetic presence was felt no matter where you were or what you were involved in; Mia wanted to be there to cheer for you.
Mia tirelessly dedicated her life to her nieces and nephews from their birth, allowing them to experience life's little treasures and ensuring that they had a good start. We can never repay her selflessness in serving our family as a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt.
Mia was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Jessie Louise Mitchell and maternal grandparents Rev. Roy & Sedalia Walker.
Mia is survived by her parents William and Synthia Huland, sister Melody King (Andre) of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, William Earl Phillips "Fred" of McKinney, Texas; sister, Michelle Alamudun of McKinney, Texas; brother, Melvin Noble, Sr "Cool" of McKinney, Texas; brother, Broderick Phillips "Lo" of McKinney, Texas; sister, Melinda Wilson "Reesee" (A.J.) of Longview, Texas; brother, Jennard Bollin "Jeddi" of McKinney, Texas; brother, William Matthew Huland "Thew" (Delma) of Garland, Texas; sister, Marquita Mokake "Shoney" (Tom) of Plano, Texas; brother, Micah Warren Huland "Mikey" of McKinney, Texas; brother, Roy Mark Huland "Duke" of McKinney, Texas; brother, Billy Maurice Huland of McKinney, Texas; sister, Melissa Huland "Mippy" of McKinney, Texas; sister, Micaela Huland "Mekay" of San Francisco, California.
